Paws on Prospect
About Us
Sarah Brunelle
My love of animals has been a constant throughout my life, and I’ve been caring for other people’s pets for more than 25 years. A large part of my professional experience came from the 17+ years I spent at Guiding Eyes for the Blind, where I worked as a Canine Training Support Technician with puppies and adult dogs in nearly every aspect of their care, training, and development.
My work included training and socializing puppies, evaluating and training adult dogs, working through behavioral challenges, pairing dogs with foster families, and teaching families how to work with and care for their dogs. I also raised several puppies in my own home as potential guide dogs and frequently brought home dogs who needed some extra training, confidence building, or TLC.
During my time at Guiding Eyes, I had the opportunity to train directly under Suzanne Clothier, whose relationship-centered approach had a lasting influence on the way I work with dogs. I believe good training starts with the relationship. I focus on connection, communication, and trust, rather than simply getting a dog to follow commands. Every dog is different, and one of my favorite parts of this work is figuring out what motivates each dog and helping their person understand them a little better.
Through Paws on Prospect, I offer boarding, in-home pet care, dog walking, private training, and training walks. My in-home care also includes cat sitting, and I’m happy to care for multi-pet households. I especially love working with puppies and have extensive experience with Labrador Retrievers, Golden Retrievers, and German Shepherds, although dogs of all breeds have a place in my heart. I also have experience caring for senior and special-needs pets who may require medication, additional supervision, or simply a little more patience and TLC.
Whether I’m helping with a training challenge or caring for your dog while you’re away, my goal is always the same. I want your dog to feel safe, understood, and genuinely cared for, and I want you to feel confident knowing they’re in experienced hands.
Most of all, I love getting to know dogs as individuals. Their quirks, their personalities, what makes them comfortable, and what makes them light up. Building those relationships is still my favorite part of what I do.
